From 12 to 16 February 2018, 25 high school students from António Arroio Art High School in Lisbon, Portugal, took the cCHALLENGE. By committing to one change sustainability-related change for 30 days, the students challenged their own beliefs and assumptions about how change happens and their role in it. While they explored how and why they make a difference, the students created many inspiring stories and art works about their daily experiences doing the cCHALLENGE and their relationship with change.
Creativity and imagination are important when it comes to identifying and realizing alternatives that are both equitable and sustainable. That is why we were thrilled to have a group of art students doing the cCHALLENGE. Art can challenge current thinking on climate change and present new ways of approaching complex problems. Unburdened by the weight of disciplinary constraints, artists are often at the forefront of new thinking, and at the heart of social change.
Many more inspired works are still coming out of the project. For a sneak peak visit the Art for Adaptation website or the Instagram account.
