Last week, Dr. Monica Sharma returned to Oslo for the final session of the Transformative Leadership for Sustainability workshop series. cCHANGE welcomed Dr. Sharma, the other facilitators, and our courageous participants for three engaging and inspiring days at Sentralen in Oslo as we moved from Session 2 which focused on Designing Change to Session 3, Leading Change.
LEADERS AND CHANGE AGENTS
Throughout the workshop-series, participants have been equipped with the skills and competence to become change agents that can design, implement and lead projects that lead to sustainable, equitable and enduring solutions.
In Leading Change, they were given practical approaches, tools and templates for leading change in their workplace, communities and elsewhere. This included tools to align projects and run meetings for impact and results. We were supported to explore our creativity and courage to support others and lead sustainable projects.
SIDE EVENTS
During the week we also hosted two public events and in which Dr Sharma briefly introduced the powerful Conscious Full Spectrum Response approach (or Three Spheres) to the public.
On Wednesday 4 September, we co-hosted a seminar with Tekna Klima, Delivering successful sustainability projects – what’s missing? This seminar was targeted at people working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. cCHANGE Founder, Karen O’Brien and Dr Monica Sharma joined a panel of workshop participants from business, government and community to introduce the deeper and broader approach to change that is necessary to trigger the scale of transformation the science is calling for. The aim of the seminar was also to enourage people to bring both their heads, hearts and hands to this work and explore deeper ways they can contribute. The recording from this event is available here.
On Thursday 5 September, we launched Karen O’Brien and Robin Leichenko’s new book Climate and Society: Transforming the Future. Karen was joined by Dr Sharma, moderator Ingerid Salvesen, and one of the leaders from the Norwegian youth organisation, Changemaker to discuss climate change as a social issue, that calls for both broader and deeper approaches to sustainability transformations. Information about the event is here and you can hear the recording here.
