Karen O’Brien is a professor of human geography at the University of Oslo, Norway. Her research focuses on the human dimensions of climate change, with an emphasis on climate change impacts, vulnerability, and adaptation. She is particularly interested in understanding deliberate responses to climate change and processes of transformation. Her earlier research has focused on climate change and implications for food security in Mexico; the relationship between deforestation and climate change, focusing on the Selva Lacandona in Chiapas, Mexico; the relationship between globalization and environmental change through the concept of ‘double exposure’; etc.
